I feel so lucky to live in Spokane because it is such a runner friendly city. Having had the privilege to live all over our country, I am so grateful for the courtesy of our local Spokane drivers and the friendliness of the other walkers and runners I encounter. Every morning when I am out running, I appreciate seeing all the other runners and walkers who are out enjoying the great beauty our area offers. I often reflect on how blessed I am to be able to go for a walk or a run in a great park like Manito Park. Having such a tranquil setting is a great start to any one’s day. I love the serenity of running through gorgeous Manito Park and the incredibly peaceful roads like Manito Boulevard.
According to a recent story on the Spokesman Reviews webpage, Manitor Park and Boulevard are now listed on the national historic register which is quite a prestigious honor! (See story at http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2016/mar/09/manito-park-and-boulevard-are-now-listed-on-nation/ )
Whether I am walking, or running, I enjoy the lush green of the trees and serenity of the pond.
The Bluff off High Drive, the Centennial Trail and Riverside State Park are a few other areas where a person can take a break and decompress from the stresses of a busy life. With Bloomsday coming up in May, I encourage everyone to take a step outside and whether you walk or run, appreciate the natural beauty our area offers.
